What has appeared inevitable for some time has finally happened with the local season having been called off due to the ongoing Covid-19 lockdowns.

Whilst this is disappointing it may come as some relief to coaches who were tasked with keeping players up for the prospect of playing in finals, whilst being restricted in conducting training sessions.

Our club had its Men’s Reserve Grade, Senior Womens, Colts, U17 and U13 teams still in finals contention at the time the season was called off. We are disappointed that these sides didn’t get the reward for their hard work during 2021, however we hope that this provides additional motivation for them in 2022.

We are extremely optimistic about next season and the prospects of an uninterrupted season should the current vaccination rates continue.

For our senior men’s team, the work has already begun with the appointment of Ben Carmichael and Tom Ruggles as co-coaches, the re-signing of key players including a returning Jarrod Garth, and the signing of exciting young forward Billy Beardsell from St Albans.

In closing off for the season may we say how fortunate we are to have such a dedicated group of sponsors supporting our club. We appreciate that many of them have faced great difficulty during this pandemic, however they still saw their way clear to support our club financially. We are extremely grateful for this support and will never take it for granted, and ask that our supporters continue to support these fabulous businesses.

We hope that all of our members and supporters stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all you at the footy in 2022.

Go Hawks
